What is Google Search Console(Previously Called Google Webmaster)
Google Search Console is a no-charge web tool by Google for webmasters. It allows webmasters to check the website indexing status and optimize visibility of their websites.
As of May 20, 2015, Google rebranded Google Webmaster Tools as Google Search Console.
What You Can do with Google Search Console.
- Check the Indexation Status of You Website.
- Information about Search Query, Impression, Clicks and Avg. Position of Keywords
- Information of all Duplicate Pages, Meta Tag(Title and Description)on Your website
- Access the Internal and External of your Website.
- Use the Structured data Mark-up feature.
- Submit the Sitemap.xml File.
- Get all information about the Malware attacks and Risk in your Website.
- Add a disavow list of poor quality backlinks.
- Write and check the Robots.txt file to help google which pages of your site crawler visit or not.
- List all the 404 Error Pages on Your website.
There are many other ways you could do with Google Search Console, I will later discussed in my posts about them.
Various Verification Methods
There are multiple ways you can verify your domain with Google Search Console(Webmaster). Here they are:
1. Upload HTML file.
2. Through Meta Tags.
3. Through Your hosting Account
Verify Your Site With Google Search Console
Today I am going to discuss step by step process to verify your domain with Google Search Console Tool.
- Login to your Gmail Account.
- Add your website with most preferred version of Your website(Carefully select the preferred version www and non www or https version).
- Download the HTML File.
- Open your FTP Account where all WordPress files are currently located.
- Navigate to public_html folder where is WordPress and put the downloaded html up there.
- Go Back in Google Search console to verify.
That's All and now you are verified with Google Search Console Tool. Initially you will not see the data. but after 3 and 4 days you will start seeing the data which Google Collected from your Site.
